Here's a beauty? The gable of this mud-walled Irish
#Thatchcottage is called 'half hipped' in style. It's high enough to allow a bedroom/loft window in it, but because its made only of mud the thatch has to sweep over the top to protect it from the heavy rains of #ClimateChangepic.twitter.com/QTRarWk32K
As you see in the left hand picture this 250 year old
#thatchedcottage was a home up to recently. We envied its owners every time we passed it on our way to our own #thatchcottage. Sadly, the roof fell into disrepair and now this once-beautiful clay-walled dwelling is almost gone pic.twitter.com/k3xqDGBddF

Here's a photo showing how
#thatchcottage walls of stone survive better than clay ones. The foundations and first few feet of this ruined thatch cottage in Wexford were built with field stones. When the stones ran out they used clay to top it to roof level. Clay walls go first! pic.twitter.com/3eLbYW6Djs
